Wheat Dosa
Ingredients
- Ghee or oil - few tsp
- Salt - as necessary
- Cool Water - 1.5 cup
- Wheat flour - 2 cup
Method
- In a vessel take wheat flour, water and salt. Mix well. Use normal room temperature water or cold water for making the batter.
- Mix well with a spoon or whisk, so that there are no lumps inside the batter. Whisk makes it easier to make a smooth batter. Check for salt.
- Switch on the stove and place a dosa tava. Allow it to become hot. Non stick tava is better than the normal tava to make this dosa easily.
- Sprinkle some oil or ghee on the tava and spread it to the entire tava. If it is a nonstick tava, you may reduce the oil or ghee .
- Using a ladle, pour about 3/4 to 1 ladle full of batter onto the hot tava and move it in circular form to make dosa.
- After about a minute, slightly lift one side and see if the bottom side of dosa has become golden brown in color. If so, flip it up using a spatula and wait for about 1 to 1.5 minute. The dosa is ready.
- Carefully lift it to a plate and serve with some curry. Repeat the same steps for the remaining batter and make more dosa.
- Another variation can be made by adding chopped onions, green chilies, capsicum and cilantro to the batter before making the dosa
- Just like regular dosa, this wheat dosa can be served with sambar and chutney varieties.
