Ingredients
- Onion - 1
- Tomato - 2
- Ginger - 1/2 inch
- Garlic - 4
- Oil - 2 Tbsp
- Cumin seeds- 1/2 Tsp
- Cashew - 4
- Potatoes - 3 (peeled and cubed)
- Green peas - 1Cup
- Asafoetida - a pinch
- Red Chilli powder - 1/2Tsp
- Turmeric Powder - 1/4Tsp
- Garam masala - 1/2Tsp
- Coriander leaves - few
- Salt as needed
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan ,add chopped onion saute for 5 mins
- Now add ginger and garlic,fry for 2 mins
- And then add tomatoes ,saute until tomatoes becomes soft and finally add cashews for a min and turn off the flame.
- After that add red chilli powder ,turmeric powder and garam masala and mix well. Let it to be cool
- Grind or blend it to a smooth paste. keep aside
- Heat oil in a pressure cooker. first crackle the cumin seeds. then add the onion-tomato paste.
- Saute the ground paste till the oil releases from the sides.
- Add the Asafoetida powder, Garam masala , salt stir and then add the peas and potatoes. saute for a minute.
- Add 1 cup water and pressure cook for 2 to 3 whistles till the potatoes & peas are cooked completely.
- then add 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves.Stir well and serve aloo matar hot with pooris, chapatis or rice.
