Potato Bhaji Recipe | Tamil Nadu style (without Coconut)
Ingredients
- 3 Potatoes
- 1 Big Onion
- 2 Green Chilli
- 2 Tbsp Oil
- 1/2 Tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 Tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
- 1 Tsp Garam Masala
- 1 Tsp Mustard Seeds
- Chopped Curry Leaves
- Chopped Coriander leaves
First prepare boiled potatoes
- Take 3 potatoes with 1 and 1/2 glass of water and salt in pressure cooker, close with lid. Do not put the weight yet, keep it on low flame
- After steam is visible , put the weight onto the pressure cooker
- Wait until the cooker gives out 2 whistles, at this point switch off the flame.
- Leave the cooker untouched for about 15 minutes
- Once 15 minutes ends , open the cooker drain the water
- Now peel skin off the potatoes, mash them and keep it aside. Potato is now ready for further processing.
- Heat the pan in low flame, put 2 Tbsp oil and then add 1 Tsp Mustard seeds and chopped Curry leaves.
- After a minute add 2 Green Chillies (pinched) and 1 Onion (chopped) until the mixture gets a brownish colour.
- After that add 1 Tsp Ginger Garlic paste and 1/2 Tsp Turmeric powder , 1 Tsp Garam masala
- Cook the mixture for about 15 Sec and now add the boiled Potatoes and a glass of water.
- Cook for few minutes in slow flame till the oil separates out. Garnish with coriander leaves and then switch off the flame.
That is it, Potato Bhaji is ready to be served with Puris, Chappathis and Dosas!
