Rava Vada

Ingredients
  • Rava / Semolina/Sooji - 1 Cup
  • Curd/Dahi/Curd - 1/2 Cup
  • Onion - 1 Chopped
  • Green Chillies - 2 Chopped
  • Curry Leaves - 1 Spring
  • Coriander Leaves - 1/2 Cup
  • Black Pepper Powder- 1/2 Tsp
  • Oil for Frying
  • Salt to taste
Method
  1. In a big bowl ,mix curd and rava with a little bit of water. Keep it aside for 10 mins.
  2. At that time we can chop the Onion, Green Chillies, Curry Leaves and Coriander Leaves.
  3. After 10 Mins, add Chopped onion, Green Chillies, Curry Leaves ,Coriander Leaves and pepper powder to the curd rava mix.
  4. Beat the batter very well and leave it to rest for 15 minutes.
  5. In a Pan, heat some cooking oil in medium flame.
  6. Greece a foil or cling wrap. Divide the vada mix into small ball and place them on the foil.
  7. Greece your fingers and flatten them and make a hole in the center. Do not make them too thin.
  8. Or  Wet your hands with water, take a small portion of the batter and make a medallion in on one of the palms and make a hole in the centre of the medallion with the finger of other hand so that you can shape it like a vada.
  9. When the oil is hot enough, test by adding small bit of batter to the oil. If it has to rise without browning then that is the right temperature
  10. Then Greece your fingers,transfer the dough to your fingers and drop slowly to the oil.
  11. Cook  until the edges turn golden. Slowly flip it over and fry until the color changes to golden brown. Remove it and drain it on a paper towel.
  12. Serve the Rava Vada Recipe along with Coconut Chutney and Filter Coffee as a part of the weekend breakfast or as a tea time snack.
