Banana Flower fry
Ingredients
- Banana florets – 3 cups
- Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
- Sambar Powder - 1 1/2 tsp
- Onion – 2 medium size
- Grated coconut – 1/4 cup
- Salt as required
- Oil – 2 tsp
- Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
- Split urad dal -3/4 tsp
- Red chillies – 3
- Hing – 1/4 tsp
- Curry leaves – a sprig
Method
- Clean and chop banana flower and keep it in diluted buttermilk to prevent discoloration.
- Once you finish cleaning and chopping, rinse and drain the buttermilk, add 1/4 cup of water, salt needed,sambar powder, turmeric powder and pressure cook until soft or Add the chopped banana florets into the boiling water and cook .
- Drain the water and keep the cooked florets aside. .
- Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, when it splutters, add urad dal, red chilli, Hing, curry leaves and saute until dal turns golden brown.
- Add finely chopped onions and garlic , saute until onions turn transparent.
- Add the cooked banana florets to the pan and saute until they are dry. Since they are already cooked, it should not take more than a few minutes.
- Finally, add the grated coconut and toss for a couple of minutes until everything combines well.
- Delicious and fiber rich Banana Flower Fry is ready to be served with rice.
