Upma Recipe | Tamil Nadu style (Breakfast)
Ingredients
- 1 Cup rava or sooji
- 2 Tbsp Oil or Ghee
- 1/2 Tsp Cumin seeds
- 1/2 Tsp Mustard seeds
- 1/2 Tsp Fennel seeds
- 1 Tsp Channa dal
- 1 Tsp Urad dal
- 1 big onion
- 1 Tsp Ginger garlic paste
- 1 Green Chilli
- Chopped Curry Leaves
- A pinch of Hing powder
- salt to taste
- 2 tsp sugar
Preparation Method
- Dry roast rava on low flame until crunchy.Transfer to a bowl.
- Heat the pan in low flame, put 2 Tbsp oil and then add mustard seeds, cumin seeds,fennel seeds and chopped curry leaves, green Chilies,channa dal , urad dal one by one.
- After a minute, sprinkle finely chopped onion.
- Fry the chopped onions until it gets a brownish color and then add ginger garlic paste.
- And then add salt ,sugar, and hing powder.
- After a minute add 2 1/2 cup water .Bring the water to boil
- Add Rava little by little and stir continuously without any lumps for 5 mins
- upma is ready
