Poha (aval) Recipe | North Indian style


Ingredients 
  • Poha - 1 cup
  • Onion - 1 big 
  • Ginger - 1 inch piece
  • Green chillies - 1 finely chopped
  • Potato -1  
  • Turmeric powder - a pinch
  • Salt to taste
  • Lemon juice to taste
  • Mustard -1 tsp
  • Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
  • 1/2 cup peanuts
  • Curry leaves - little
Preparation
  1. Wash poha under running water for 2-3 minutes and drain all the water.
  2. Heat oil in a pan.Add mustard seeds and let them crackle.
  3. Add peanuts and roast for few seconds.when it splutters, add urad dal, when dal turns golden brown, add onions and saute until it turns transparent.
  4. Then add ginger, green chillies, turmeric powder and saute for a few more seconds.
  5. Add cubed potatoes, salt needed and cook until the potatoes are soft.
  6. By this time the poha would have become soft. Fluff it gently with a fork and add to the above.
  7. Add few drops of lemon juice and mix well. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
